West End Bowls Club Bowling Break in Spain

Several people have mentioned that they would like a bowling trip abroad. In response I have had a look at what is on offer and have made a provisional booking with The Personal Touch. It is a very experienced company which is fully bonded and Dave and I have been away with them on at least six occasions.

We need 24 people for the holiday to be viable and there are 28 places on hold for us until the end of January.

• Date : 29 September to 6 October 2011

• Venue: Hotel La Zenia, La Zenia Spain. This is a 4 star hotel located on a promontory overlooking the sea. It is in the midst of a low rise “ex pat” community with a few bars and shops nearbye. Food is served buffet style and caters to English rather than Mediterranean taste. The holiday is offered on a half board basis.

• Bowling : There are several clubs in the area and there will be four “friendly” games at different venues – probably on Greengauge or Dales carpets. We will travel to the venues by coach – maximum length of journey is likely to be within 40 minutes but, at this stage, there are no guarantees about which clubs we will visit. All green fees are included but, in my experience clubs in Spain usually expect you to buy your bottled water from their bar rather than taking your own.

• Also included: Coach transport to and from resort hotel and airport, 2 half day coach excursions (Elche & Murcia), a welcome drink and a farewell drink, services of Personal Touch Rep.

• Flights: From Gatwick. Times not available at this stage.

• Insurance: Holiday insurance is required – if you already have a policy you can rely on it, subject to providing Personal Touch with the details. Single trip insurance is available from Personal Touch (£40.00 to £61.00 depending on age)

• Price: £599.00 each. You might also choose to budget for extra luggage as the allowance tends to be lean for these trips – a bowls bag usually costs around £35 if purchased in advance and is adequate for two people (2 bowls each).

TO BOOK: Please let me know ASAP if you would like to come. Then give me completed booking form and deposit of £120.00 each by Tuesday 25th January. I can then keep track of numbers and liaise with Personal Touch. Cheques should be made payable to Personal Touch Holidays Ltd.

I expect to have a handout from Personal Touch and a supply of booking forms at the Christmas Social on 15th January.
