THE DORSET BOWLS RESORT
Following the “straw poll” on what members would like this year I have made a provisional booking.
The Dorset Bowls Resort is part of the Dorset Golf & Country Club at Bere Regis which is near Poole. The three rink indoor green, together with a small hotel block and extended clubhouse, was added to an existing golf resort in 2009. The resort is in a rural location although many of Dorset’s tourist attractions are within easy driving distance. There is a supply of leaflets and booking slips in the clubhouse and further details are on the resort’s website - www.dorsetbowlsresort.com
Accommodation – I have booked a mixture of hotel rooms and Scandinavian lodges.
The hotel rooms are adjacent to and above the bowls green, close to the clubhouse and dining room. All have en-suite facilities, TV and tea & coffee making facilities. We have 4 ground floor rooms which are suitable for people with limited mobility and 3 others which are upstairs (no lift).
The lodges are located in the grounds; 200-300 yards from the bowls green and clubhouse. They are spacious and furnished to very high standard (5 Star). Each lodge comprises three self contained bedrooms with en-suite facilities. They have, in addition, a shared sitting area with wood burning stove, kitchen, sauna and veranda.
Half Board – starting with dinner on Thursday, ending with breakfast on Sunday. Lunches and snacks can be bought in the clubhouse and are available until 5.00 pm
Bowling – will be organised by the resort. There will be a rollup on Thursday afternoon and an open fours competition on Friday and Saturday. I will send a list of players with their preferred bowling positions before we arrive. The resort will do the rest – including awarding the prizes!
Cost - £155 per person. (No single supplements). Deposit (£40.00 each) to me by 30 May 2011
Entertainment – the resort will organise family type entertainment each evening e.g. bingo, quizzes, deal or no deal, play your cards right. Any money raised through these activities will be donated to a charity nominated by the Club
Insurance – The resort does not offer a group insurance policy. Individuals are responsible for arranging their own insurance.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you would like to go so that I can confirm the booking and try to ensure that everyone has the type of accommodation they would prefer. We need a minimum of 25 people.
